The Mass Transportation Authority in Flint, Mich., has altered its plan to use a $5 million federal grant to buy compressed natural gas vehicles and now will purchase 50 propane-powered mini-buses. The MTA will be the first transport agency in the state to use propane. "The use of propane is proven. ... I feel propane is going to be a winner," said MTA Chief of Staff Ed Benning. The agency also plans to build a $3.5 million CNG and propane fueling station in Grand Blanc Township, which will also be a testing and research site for Kettering University as it examines the feasibility of developing hydrogen fuel.
