Southwest Airlines, which is in the process of acquiring AirTran Airways, is working with the Southwest Airlines Pilots' Association and the Air Line Pilots Association on a deal that will allow the carriers to proceed with integration talks. "This [agreement] also creates a timeline for SWAPA and ALPA to reach an [integrated seniority list] agreement. If an agreement is not reached during this time frame, the matter will be sent to arbitration and a new implementation process will have to be negotiated," said Southwest in a statement.
