Surgeons in Pittsburgh and elsewhere are sharing information with Dr. Peter Butler, director of surgery and trauma at the Royal Free Hospital in London, whose team is evaluating candidates for face and hand transplants. The combined procedure was performed on a French man who died from a heart attack in 2009, two months after the surgery. "We have a number of patients that we have seen with combined face and hand injuries and a number are potentially going to be done," Butler said.
