Students in a Florida elementary school's autism unit are using specialized software and laptop computers as part of classroom lessons teaching letter sounds and basic words. Educators at the school say the technology is among the various methods used to teach students how to express themselves. "These guys are learning about the intent to communicate with pictures," behavior specialist Sue Beane said. "The point of this is not just to communicate, but also to interact with another person. ... That is key."
