New wind turbines designed for areas in the U.S. with low wind speeds were unveiled by General Electric, Acciona and Suzlon Energy this week at the American Wind Energy Association's WINDPOWER 2011 conference in Anaheim, Calif. "Since the financial crisis we've doubled research and development to get past a challenging market," said Vic Abate, GE Energy vice president of renewables and AWEA chairman. "Projects that couldn't work economically before now can."
