National Board Certified Teacher Mary Tedrow argues in this blog post that Virginia's new teacher evaluations -- 40% of which are based on student growth -- won't work. Tedrow, a member of the Teacher Leaders Network, writes that the evaluations unfairly make teachers accountable for students' lives outside of the classroom. Student assessments also are not designed to evaluate teachers' performance, she writes, and such an evaluation system will not improve students' learning.
