Texas legislation that would prohibit "intrusive touching" by airport security screeners was withdrawn from the state Senate floor after the federal government said it would seek a court order preventing its enforcement. In a letter to the Texas lawmakers, U.S. Attorney John Murphy wrote that "Texas has no authority to regulate federal agents and employees in the performance of their federal duties or to pass a statute that conflicts with federal law." State Sen. Dan Patrick withdrew the bill after several lawmakers said they could no longer vote for it.
