More than a dozen energy companies seek to drill as many as 3,000 Eagle Ford Shale wells in the next year. The Eagle Ford is among new onshore fields that could help the country significantly raise its oil production within 10 years, drilling supporters say. "It's the one thing we have seen in our adult lives that could take us away from imported oil," said Aubrey McClendon, chairman and CEO of Chesapeake Energy.
