An analysis by Dow Chemical and the American Chemistry Council forecasts that the shale gas boom will result in up to $16 billion in additional U.S. petrochemical investments and a $32.8 billion boost to chemical output. The increases would be spurred by a 25% jump in ethane supply derived from U.S. shale gas, according to Seth Roberts, Dow's director of energy and climate change.
