The Minnesota Public Utilities Commission is expected to decide today on AWA Goodhue Wind's proposal to develop a 50-turbine wind farm in Goodhue County, Minn. The county in October 2010 adopted an ordinance that requires AWA Goodhue Wind to set back its turbines about half a mile from nonparticipating properties, while state law requires setbacks of just 750 to 1,500 feet. The county's setback rules threaten the project, AWA Goodhue Wind said.
