Wendy's opened the first of 180 planned eateries in Russia this month, a move designed to position the chain to compete with McDonald's, which opened its first Moscow store in 1990, and Burger King, which made its Russian debut last year. Restaurant companies see expansion potential there because consumers' salaries are on the rise and there are still relatively few eateries, one analyst said.
