Health care providers increasingly are using personal mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones as tools in patient care, a trend that can pose IT security threats to hospitals, says expert Ilene Yarnoff. To avoid risks to patient data, "there needs to be a policy that the clinician or manager sign up or get authorized permission to use a personal phone so it is managed by the system," she says.
