Japan is lagging when it comes to female legislators as women account for 11.3% of lawmakers in its Lower House, according to a new white paper on gender equality. In comparison women account for 45% of Sweden's legislators and 32.8% of Germany's lawmaking ranks. Just 1% of Japan's corporate leaders are female and the country ranks 94th of 134 countries on the 2010 World Economic Forum's Gender Gap Index.
