Nanotechnology has a key part to play in increasing bioavailability, especially for oil-based uses, according to a study by a European Union-funded group. "Nutrients for which nanoencapsulation will provide added value are those which are poorly soluble in water ... [including] vitamins, antioxidants, carotenoids, omega-3 fatty acids, coenzyme Q10, curcumin, green tea polyphenols, and quercetin," the study said.
