The Nashua, N.H., School District was able to save more than $7.6 million over the past 10 years on natural gas, water and electricity by reducing energy consumption and improving energy efficiency, such as simply turning off the lights when leaving a room or immediately repairing water pipe leaks. The school district hired an energy manager to oversee the energy-saving program, which started in 2000 in partnership with Energy Education.
