The skin and bulb of onions may help stave off diabetes and obesity, a study in the journal Plant Foods for Human Nutrition suggests. Experts said the skins of onions are rich in fiber and flavonoids and contain high amounts of antioxidants, while the bulbs contain fructans and sulphurous compounds. Fiber reduces the risk of type 2 diabetes, obesity and other diseases.
