Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell has signed an executive order that will require a state plan to fuel its fleet of 10,000 vehicles with alternative fuels such as propane autogas, natural gas, electricity, biofuels and hydrogen. "This is an opportunity for the commonwealth's public and private sectors, industry leaders and innovators to work collaboratively to move state government away from vehicles fueled by gasoline and diesel fuel and reduce our dependence on foreign oil," according to the executive order.
