Retired boomers are taking on a lot more in the form of helping to care for grandchildren, as their sons and daughters sometimes struggle to make homes of their own, writes Chuck Raasch. But these boomers also have secure retirement benefits that they are loath to sacrifice so younger generations can be relieved of some of the debt burden they are struggling to sustain. This divide is opening a window for politicians to pit generations against one another by the budget debate, Raasch writes.
