NASA scientists have announced the discovery of what appears to be signs that liquid water flowed on the surface of Mars at some time in the past. Images taken by the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter show thousands of dark tendril patterns that scientists say resemble the tidal ebb and flow associated with the changing of seasons. Because of the conditions on Mars, the scientists speculate that the water must have had a high salt content to keep it from freezing.
