A study in Scientific Reports found that mice taking resveratrol-based SRT1720 drugs did not gain extra weight, had improved stamina and were protected from diabetes despite having a high-fat diet. The drug has also extended the life span of mice in the junk food group by up to 44%. The findings suggest that drugs based on resveratrol, commonly found in red wines, may address obesity, diabetes, heart disease and cancer, experts said.
