A mountain lion was recently killed by a motorist in Greenwich, Conn., and officials determined afterward that the animal had likely traveled about 1,500 miles east from the Black Hills of South Dakota. It's one of about a dozen sightings of the animals reported in the upscale Northeast suburb this summer, although some officials say the single cat's story may have residents mistaking native species such as bobcats and coyotes for the rarer mountain lion.
