School-kitchen staff are being trained to cook healthy meals from scratch on a large scale, but experts say it also is important for children to learn to make good choices at the grocery store and to have nutritious meals at home. Carla Tuttle, food-service director for schools in Milford, Mass., says children need to be taught how to eat well, so the district is introducing whole grains at the elementary-school level to help make healthier foods the norm as they grow up.
