Nexstar Broadcasting Group CEO Perry Sook, who helped set the tone for the current retransmission consent system by bargaining hard with pay-TV operators, is making new waves by balking at paying higher affiliate fees and reverse compensation to Fox, Harry Jessell writes. As a result, Fox dropped three Nexstar affiliates, but Sook has responded by turning two stations into independent outlets and rebranding a third as an ABC affiliate. He also filed an antitrust lawsuit against Granite, which is assumed the Fox affiliate status in Fort Wayne, Ind., and has four other affiliates in the market.
