All teens aged 16 to 18 years old should receive routine HIV testing if they live in areas with an HIV prevalence greater than 0.1% of the population, according to a position paper released today by the AAP. The group also recommends routine HIV testing in emergency departments and urgent care clinics located in high prevalence areas because many at-risk adolescents may lack access to a primary care provider.
