Patients admitted with a transient ischemic attack who were placed under the care of an acute TIA team saw their expected cumulative risk of suffering a stroke within the first seven days drop by 65%, a Danish study found. Researchers noted that roughly 5% of the patients suffered a stroke or nonfatal myocardial infarction, or died due to a vascular episode within a year of experiencing TIA. The findings, which involved 306 patients who had TIA, appear in the European Journal of Neurology.
