The number of new hospital-acquired Clostridium difficile infections appears to have leveled off after rapid growth from 2000 to 2005, according to a study presented at CHEST 2011: the American College of Chest Physicians Annual Meeting. Hospitals may be using antibiotics more wisely and getting more people to wash their hands, researcher Marya Zilberberg said.
