Pennsylvania more than doubled shale-gas-related employment between the first quarter of 2008 and the same period this year, according to a state agency's report. Activities related to the Marcellus Shale employed 214,000 people in the first three months of this year, with steady hiring continuing in the second quarter, the report said. Average shale-related incomes were nearly $30,000 higher per person than the state average.
