Canadian lawmakers say organized crime groups are aggressively recruiting workers at major airports to help with drug smuggling. A 2008 study by the Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence identified 60 gangs with a presence at major Canadian airports. “If the Hells Angels can get their people in place at airports, what’s to stop Al Fatah?,” Sen. Colin Kenny asked. “Any holes that criminals open in security perimeters make them more vulnerable to all who wish to circumvent them.”
