The Gateway Pacific Terminal -- a proposed coal-export terminal located near Bellingham, Wash. -- could generate more than 400 "direct jobs, including for railroad personnel, once it achieves full operational status, according to a study by three Bellingham economists. BNSF is slated to provide rail shipping from the Power River Basin, Wyo., to the terminal, which could produce about 48 million tons of coal when it reaches full operating capacity.
