More than half of consumers say they have participated in a boycott, 93% say they would do so, and significant majorities have or would purchase products based on a company's reputation as being socially responsible, according to a Cone/Echo Global survey of more than 10,000 people in 10 countries. Consumers vary in how they want corporations to communicate efforts regarding economic development, environmental responsibility and human rights. Twenty-two percent want information included on packaging, 21% want to hear it from the media, 16% want advertising to include social responsibility information and 11% want to find out via the Web.
