Texas wind farms on Oct. 7 generated a record 7,400 megawatts of power, about 15% of which came from wind turbines along the Texas coast, according to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas. The record wind power output on Oct. 7 represented more than 78% of the region's 9,400 MW of installed wind capacity and accounted for 15.2% of electricity demand at the time, ERCOT said.
