More enterprises are turning to mobile-only communications solutions, according to a survey from BroadSoft that finds a quarter of IT decision makers saying the wired desk phone will be obsolete within two years. About 80% of companies employ at least some mobile solutions, with some workers relying solely on wireless, the survey finds. The shift away from wire-line access is driven in part by the growth of unified communications, which enables companies to combine services such as videoconferences, Web conferences and instant messaging into a single mobile-networking solution.
