Postmenopausal women with the highest blood glucose levels were nearly twice as likely to develop colorectal cancer over 12 years than those who had the lowest levels, a study showed. Researchers examined 4,500 women ages 50 to 70 and found that 35 patients in the "high" group -- not quite high enough to be diabetic -- developed colorectal cancer by the end of the study period, compared with only 18 in the "low" group. The findings appear in the British Journal of Cancer.
