About 1 in 4 pay-TV customers in the U.S. also subscribes to Netflix, while about 10% stream movies and TV shows at no charge, The NPD Group has found. Almost half of pay-TV audiences also subscribe to premium movie channels or sports tiers, and almost a quarter screen films using premium and free video on demand. Comcast is the leader in VOD, with more than 4 in 10 of its customers tapping the service, while 38% of Verizon's subscribers use VOD and 20% of Time Warner Cable's subscribers avail themselves of the service.
