The benefits of the U.S. shale-gas boom are drawing interest from Canada and Latin America, writes William Lemos. Dow Chemical, Chevron Phillips Chemical and Westlake Chemical are among firms with plans to expand ethylene capacity and petrochemical production. Canada is looking to import shale gas as feedstock for its crackers, while Brazilian chemical major Braskem could build a U.S.-based ethylene cracker, Lemos writes.
