The test involves coating silver-nanoparticle arrays with the antibiotic vancomycin through surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy. This process enhances detection of bacteria compared with other tests, according to the study published in Nature Communications. The test could help improve diagnosis and treatment of sepsis.
