A federal appeals court has dismissed Cameron International's request to reject a nonjury-trial plan for the companies blamed for the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill. Cameron had said that U.S. District Judge Carl Barbier incorrectly cited maritime law to call for a nonjury trial over oil-spill liability. "The district court did not clearly err in concluding that the limitation proceeding is within the court's admiralty jurisdiction," a three-judge panel ruled.
