When new disclosures of 401(k) fees go into effect next year, one results is that plan sponsors could start negotiating harder with vendors over the cost of plans, says Robert Stebbins, Verisight senior vice president. "We are probably going to see both the rates and model for the fee structure being negotiated," Stebbins said. Other possible fallout from the new rules: a shift away from fees based on assets under management toward flat, per-participant fees.
