Marion County, Iowa, officials at a state NENA chapter meeting got updates on national efforts to move emergency communications from a telephone-based system to an Internet-based next-generation 9-1-1 network. Marion County 9-1-1 Director John McCoy says the county has studied the issue, and though changes are not imminent, he is concerned about the costs of potentially using the county's two communication access points as part of an NG 9-1-1 system.
