Nine of 15 companies in the Kansas City Collaborative saved almost $11 million in health care costs through employee wellness activities, including offering healthier food in cafeterias and vending machines. Data showed companies saved an average of $194 per employee by focusing on reducing chronic disease, while 60% offered free preventive care, and half reduced insurance premiums for workers who completed a risk assessment, got a physical or made healthy lifestyle changes.
