Technologies such as Flash, HTML4 and Silverlight are doomed and will inevitably be replaced by open Web standards capable of better serving developers and consumers, writes John R. Rymer. HTML5 is the open Web's poster child, but technologies such as JavaScript, CSS3, APIs and jQuery Mobile all have a role to play. "Welcome to your new Web platform; we advise actively engaging in the open Web technologies now," Rymer adds.
