The telemedicine industry continues to evolve as changes in reimbursement models and new standards of care -- such as 24/7 monitoring -- drive acceptance of remote health solutions among a new generation of patients. According to Jonathan Linkous, chief executive officer of the American Telemedicine Association, other industry trends, such as the rise of remote-clinical-consulting firms, virtual-care facilities and mobile health, will also have a strong effect on the future of telehealth.
