Gary Gensler, chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, says the agency is making progress on efforts to increase transparency of the over-the-counter derivatives market, but more needs to be done. "Hedgers, investors and speculators will be able to meet in an open and competitive market, benefiting from seeing available bids and offers and gaining liquidity," Gensler said. "These rules will be critical in bringing pre-trade transparency to the swaps market."
