The projected growth in oil and natural gas drilling in Ohio's Marcellus and Utica shale plays will usher southeast Ohio into an economic upswing and boost employment in the region, said JobsOhio President and Interim Chief Investment Officer Mark Kvamme. "The shale opportunities are very interesting -- and not just for shale drilling, but for all ancillary industries as well," he said. State Rep. Andy Thompson agreed with Kvamme, saying that the state is "seeing a great opportunity and demand for energy production and the shale-fracturing industry is providing the most aggressive demand for employees."
