It's only a matter of time before government health care programs, including Medicare, begin moving away from standard fee-for-service reimbursement and start to compensate doctors for remote visits and other telehealth services, according to panelists at last week's CES Digital Health Summit. Robert Jarrin, senior director of government affairs for Qualcomm, said that within the next five years, alternative-payment models -- including those for home-based care -- will account for a quarter of all Medicare and Medicaid spending.
