U.S. researchers said men who ate more than two 4-ounce servings of red meat a day and women who ate almost two servings had a higher risk of stroke than did those who ate less red meat. The study in the journal Stroke found that substituting another type of protein, such as poultry, dairy, nuts or fish, for one of the daily meat servings reduced the risk of stroke.
