LG Electronics and Samsung Electronics are expected to introduce televisions made with organic light-emitting diodes next week at the International CES. The sets will be dramatically thinner and lighter than existing LCD and plasma TVs. NPD DisplaySearch estimates that retail prices for these OLED TVs will start at about $8,000 later this year, gradually declining to less than $4,000 by the end of next year. Meanwhile, Samsung plans to re-enter the Japanese market for flat-panel TVs in 2013, after being absent from the market for six years, according to the Nikkei business daily.
