ZeaChem Boardman Biorefinery has received a $232.5 million conditional loan guarantee from the Department of Agriculture to develop a cellulosic-ethanol plant in Boardman, Ore. The facility would convert farm residue and woody biomass into cellulosic ethanol and renewable chemicals such as acetic acid and ethyl acetate. "This is a very exciting and innovative project, and we are very pleased to see ZeaChem moving into the commercial stages of cellulosic-ethanol production," said Brooke Coleman, executive director of the Advanced Ethanol Council.
