Allowing the renewable-energy Production Tax Credit to lapse would halt the gains made by the wind industry in Iowa, which ranked third in new wind power installations in 2011, according to American Wind Energy Association CEO Denise Bode. Wind power expansion in Iowa "shows that traditional tax incentives are working. In hard economic times, we're creating jobs and delivering clean, affordable electricity," said Bode. "We will lose all these consumer benefits and a brand-new, growing manufacturing sector if Congress allows the production tax credit to expire."
