The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania has ruled that Northeastern Pennsylvania Imaging Center's MRI and PET/CT systems are personal property and subject to sales tax paid by the center, rather than the contractor who installed them. The devices keep their identity as personal property because they can be removed and replaced, the decision found. "While their size makes them cumbersome, size does not make them part of the building," according to Justice J. Michael Eakin.
